British ambasador visited Pika's festival
Today, Pika was honoured with a visit of her friend – the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Mrs Sophie Honey. She started to work in Slovenia in March and heard of Pika’s festival from our Minister of Defence Mrs Andreja Katič . "I’ve been refreshing my memories today because it’s so many years since I’ve read the Pippy Longstocking books and it’s a few years until my kinds are ready for them. The people from the festival have been telling me about her as well. What I remember is that she is very strong and quirky character with red plaits who gets involved in lots of adventures. I was surprised to find out today that Pippy Longstocking books have been around for longer than I thought. I thought they were from the 60’s or 70’s but I understand that the story is 70 years old so I thing she was really ahead of her time,” she told to Pippy’s journalist.
Ambassador Sophie Honey visited Velenje for the first time. She heard about its beauties before and now she is convinced that it is really a wonderful place. Pippy hopes that she will come back.
